Maria's ceramic visions are constantly evolving, and she loves the endless possibility of creation that hand building allows her to explore. By using traditional pottery methods, she is able to make unique forms that show the beauty in imperfection. Her inspiration for color, style and surface decoration are often sourced from wild places in her surroundings, and the human form. Firing techniques vary depending on available resources and opportunities, but typically are fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln. Dinnerware is food safe and all jewelry creations are assembled using hypoallergenic metals. The clay bodies that she uses vary from porcelain to stoneware. Creations are all made by hand, which renders no two pieces to be exactly alike.
