Paint a Plate Night // Yurt Space
Join me in the yurt for “paint a plate” night! Bring a friend, a creative idea, and maybe a bottle of wine to relax and make art.
This opportunity offers ceramic handmade plates available in three sizes for you to paint with underglaze. If you need inspiration, I will be demonstrating a few designs at the beginning of class for you to try, but I encourage people to come with their own ideas. I have screenshotted a bunch of beautiful painted plates I found through Pinterest above for you to see some design examples. If you want to look some up on your own, your search would be “plates painted with underglaze.” I will provide all the bisqued plates, underglaze, clear glaze, brushes, and other materials for creating your designs. When your plate is done, apply a few layers of clear glaze, and then enjoy socializing with community. I will fire your plates and have them ready for pick up the week after class. If you need to have your plate shipped to you, please select that option below, add it to your cart separately, and provide me with a shipping address.
Due to the handmade nature of these plates, they will all be different. Some may have an imperfect edge, and some may be thicker than others. However, they are all made using the same slump molds, so they will be similar in size and overall shape.
Plate options: At the moment, all plates will be created using brown clay. The bottoms of the plates will remain unglazed to expose this beautiful, natural clay finish.
Small Plate - 4.5” - $40
Medium Plate - 7.5” - $50
Large Plate - 10.5” - $60
Get all three nesting plates for $110
Plates will be fired to Cone 5/6 and will be food safe!
When: Thursday, May 7th from 6:00-8:00
Where: 725 Old Stage Road in Arrowsic
Disclaimer *** Although the goal is to have all of your plates come out of the kiln beautifully, we are always at the mercy of the kiln gods. If your plate does not come out as expected, I unfortunately cannot provide a refund. Pray to the kiln gods!
